Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Chen Chuandong Attends Handover Ceremony of Minefields Cleared by the Chinese Peacekeeping Forces

Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Chen Chuandong attended the handover ceremony of the minefields cleared by the 24th Chinese peacekeeping contingent to UNIFIL in Maroun Al Ras village in southern Lebanon on February 4. The ceremony was attended by UNIFIL Deputy Commander Major General Bahadur Mahara and senior representatives of the Lebanese Armed Forces South Litani Sector. Two minefields cleared by the Chinese peacekeeping forces were handed over to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The minefields are located close to the Blue Line, and cover an area of 4,865 square meters, With 834 landmines, cleared, transforming a no-go zone to a safe land of hope.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of China's deployment of peacekeepers to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
