Washington, D.C. (December 19, 2025) - We are extremely pleased with today's ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado granting a preliminary injunction against enforcement of Colorado's unconstitutional Gas Stove Labeling Law. The court's decision to block this first-in-the-nation gas stove warning mandate validates AHAM's position and our serious concerns with the law, which lacks scientific support and would have compelled AHAM's members to disseminate inaccurate information to the public.
AHAM has long maintained that manufacturers and retailers should not be compelled to display government-mandated messaging that is not grounded in scientific consensus. We are encouraged by the court's recognition of those fundamental principles and its willingness to protect the First Amendment rights of AHAM members and consumers' rights to receive accurate, scientifically sound, unbiased information.
This ruling allows our industry to continue focusing on innovation, safety, energy efficiency and consumer choice without being subjected to state-level mandates that lack scientific support. We appreciate the thoughtful consideration the court has brought to this complex issue and look forward to continued engagement through the judicial process.
