Prime Minister meets with German Chancellor
Montenegro is making significant progress on its European path, and it is crucial that it continues at this pace in order to join the European Union as an economically strengthened member, said German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a meeting with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić in London.
The two officials discussed Montenegro's European integration and the results achieved by the 44th Government on its EU path.
It was emphasized that Montenegro enjoys Germany's strong support and that in the next phase of the accession process, particular importance will be attached to Montenegro's upcoming chairmanship of the Berlin Process next year.
As underlined during the meeting, this will be of great importance for further strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the Western Balkans.
Prime Minister Spajić presented an ambitious reform plan aimed at enabling Montenegro to close all negotiation chapters by the end of 2026 and to join the Union two years later.
Special emphasis was placed on deepening economic cooperation, strengthening investment ties, and creating new opportunities for German investors in Montenegro, particularly in the fields of energy, tourism, and digital transformation.
