FDOT Project to Improve A1A Begins This July

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is starting a new project to improve safety and infrastructure at two key intersections on A1A: NE 14th Court and NE 27th Street.

About the Project:

FDOT will enhance pedestrian access, lighting, and traffic signals while resurfacing the road to improve safety and extend the life of the pavement.

Key Improvements:

  • New signalized crosswalk at NE 14th Court to improve pedestrian safety
  • New traffic signal mast arms and pedestrian signals at NE 27th Street
  • Wildlife-friendly amber LED lighting for better nighttime visibility
  • Roadway resurfacing, upgraded ramps, signage, and striping

Timeline:

  • Construction begins: July 2025
  • Estimated completion: Spring 2026
  • Cost: $2.08 million

During Construction:

  • Lane closures at NE 27th Street: Daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Lane closures at NE 14th Court: Overnight Monday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times
  • Weekly traffic updates available at https://www.d4fdot.com/bcfdot
