Daggerwing Delights in October

Daggerwing Nature Center is in Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park at 11435 Park Access Road, off Cain Boulevard between Glades Road and Yamato Road, west of Boca Raton. Activities promote environmental awareness, conservation and recreation and educate on health and wellness in the community.

ANIMAL FEEDINGS & TALKS
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 2:45 p.m.

During feeding time, listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing's resident animals.

ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
Thursday, October 2, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Animal keepers have the coolest job! Work behind the scenes with animal care staff and volunteers to feed, clean exhibits and provide enrichments for the animals at the nature center. Learn what it takes to care for these special animal ambassadors.

INTRO TO ARCHERY
Saturday, October 4, 10:30 a.m.
Adults and children ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)Join USA Archery certified staff and learn about the exciting sport of archery. This program teaches archery safety, skills and proper use of a bow and arrow before practicing on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: NIGHT CREATURES
Tuesday, October 7, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

SENSATIONAL SNAKES
Saturday, October 11, 10:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a family-friendly program focusing on the amazing world of snakes! Learn about these slithering serpents and meet one up close and personal.

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: INSECTS & SPIDERS
Tuesday, October 14, 3 p.m.
Adults and children ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about insects and spiders featuring a visit from one of the nature center's resident animal ambassadors. Located at the West Boca Branch Library! Call the library for details and RSVP at 561-470-1600.

CREEPY CRITTERS
Saturday, October 18, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 5+, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Do spiders make you jump? Do snakes make you scream? You can meet some live animals that many people consider creepy and learn how these creatures are uniquely special and important to the environment.

SPECIAL EVENT: HOOT & HOWL
Friday, October 24, 6 - 8 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Bring the kids in costume and enjoy not-so-scary Halloween games and crafts* while learning about nocturnal creatures such as owls, toads, snakes and spiders! Remember to bring a flashlight and bug spray to continue the adventure outside along the boardwalk at night! *While supplies last.
