MEDIA ADVISORY: Torrance Neighborhood Outdoor Warning Siren Testing

Torrance, Calif., June 17, 2025 - The City of Torrance will conduct a test of the Torrance Neighborhood Outdoor Warning or TorranceNOW Sirens that are strategically located within the City on Wednesday, June 18, at 3 p.m.

The TorranceNOW Sirens test will include a wail tone, text-to-voice announcement, "This is a test, only a test…" three times, and a chime to signal the conclusion of the test. The TorranceNOW Sirens are designed for early warning to the community in the event there is a significant emergency requiring a call-to-action. These sirens are located at each fire station, the Southeast Library, and the corner of Lomita Boulevard and Madison Street.

The TorranceNOW Sirens are part of the overall Torrance Community Warning System, which includes TorranceAlerts, Torrance Refining Company Siren, Crenshaw/Del Amo Barrier System, CitiSOUNDS radio, CitiCABLE, Emergency Alert System, and the Beach Emergency Evacuation Lights System (BEELS).
