Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication After Pedestrian Fatally Injured on Woodland Street

Antwaine McBee, 45, is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and driving on a suspended license for Tuesday's 3:45 p.m. fatal crash in the 400 block of Woodland Street claimed the life of a pedestrian, tentatively identified as a 62-year-old Nashville man. Due to the injuries he sustained, the Medical Examiner will make positive identification.
The preliminary investigation indicates that McBee was driving a 2013 Ford Raptor pickup truck on Woodland Street, toward Interstate Drive, at a high rate of speed when the vehicle traveled into oncoming lanes of travel, jumped a curb, and struck the pedestrian on the sidewalk. The pickup then crashed through a fence surrounding the parking lot of 417 Woodland Street and struck four parked vehicles. The pedestrian died at the scene.
McBee showed signs of impairment. Responding officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the truck. McBee admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the crash. Toxicology testing is being conducted. McBee is being held on $75,000 bond.
