FEMA Announces Additional $45 Million for North Carolina
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - FEMA announced an additional $45 million approved this week for more than 40 recovery and mitigation projects to help North Carolina communities recover from Hurricane Helene and past disasters.
Notable recovery projects FEMA funded include:
FEMA is reimbursing North Carolina at no less than a 90% federal share for Hurricane Helene Public Assistance recovery projects, an enhanced level of support reserved for the most significant disasters.
Additionally, FEMA approved $919,000 for the state of North Carolina to acquire and demolish properties in Transylvania County that were damaged by Helene. The properties will be converted into permanent open space to help prevent, eliminate or reduce future disaster damage. FEMA is funding this mitigation project at no less than a 75% federal cost share through its Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
FEMA remains committed to supporting North Carolina's recovery and resilience, working closely with state and local partners to help communities rebuild stronger for the future.
