Ambassador Martin Selmayr co-chairs the Group of Friends on Bioeconomy at FAO

Today at the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, the Group of Friends on Bioeconomy co-chaired by the European Union and Brazil had a global, a regional and a national vision on its agenda: We discussed the G20 High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy agreed under Brazil's presidency, the EU's new Bioeconomy Strategy presented by the colleague of the EU Delegation, Blaga Popova, and Malaysia's National Policy presented by Wan Hasnul Nadzrin of the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation.

Knowledge, Nature and Value Creation are the three pillars of the international work on the bioeconomy. At FAO, we will continue to work with all regions on robust, coherent and converging policy frameworks that foster sustainable trade for bioeconomy products and services. The meeting was very well attended and with active participation from numerous Ambassadors and experts from all regions.
