Constitution Day Activities Upcoming, Resources Available

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. This day celebrates and reflects on the Constitution's significance as the foundation of American government and the rights and freedoms it guarantees. Constitution Day is also known as Citizenship Day and recognizes all who have become citizens of the United States. Together, the day, serves as an opportunity to learn about the Constitution's role in shaping the nation and to promote civic engagement and awareness.

As we prepare to celebrate Constitution Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, save the date for campus and community activities. The Class of 2020 Gateway sign will be illuminated with red, white, and blue and the American Flag to commemorate Constitution Day.

CONSTITUTION DAY ACTIVITIES

* On Tuesday, Sept. 15, which is National Voter Registration Day, Royals Vote will have a table at the Volunteer Fair with information resources and volunteer opportunities.
That evening, the University community is invited to a Scranton "Faith250" dialogue taking place at the Islamic Center of Scranton; this event series is hosted by different places of worship and is aimed at exploring the words and ideas that have shaped our nation. * On Thursday, Sept. 17, the University's non-partisan Royals Vote Initiative will host a special Voting and Civic Engagement Expo from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the DeNaples Center Patio. The expo will include information on how to participate in the election process and provide voter registration forms and other resources available through Royals Vote. In addition, representatives from both the Lackawanna County Democratic and Republican parties will be present to provide information and connect with interested students.
