Statement from Chairman Aguilar on President Trump's Inauguration

WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar released the following statement on President Donald Trump's inauguration:

"Talk is cheap. Delivered in a room where the richest people on earth were given special seats of honor, today's weak and divisive inaugural address echoed the same empty campaign promises that won't do anything to help working families struggling with rising costs. This was a chance to lay out specific policies that will bring down prices, but instead he talked about invading Greenland and renaming the Gulf of Mexico. The truth is that Donald Trump doesn't have a real plan to lower the cost of living. He's already backtracked on his commitment to bringing down the high cost of groceries, and now he's touting economic fairy dust, like across the board tariffs that will increase prices for every American, while his billionaire cabinet cashes in.

"If President Trump wants to get serious about tackling inflation, lowering costs and delivering real relief to the American people, House Democrats stand ready to work together in good faith. We can make life easier for working families if Republicans abandon their partisan wish list and put people first."
