NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (June 12, 2026) - A massive, six-foot soccer ball sculpture has landed at The Yard, 40 College Ave., transforming the local hub into a public art destination for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as well as a watch party center.
The piece, titled "It Found It's Way In" by artist Taina Cruz, is part of "The Art of the Game," an exhibition featuring 23 large-scale soccer ball sculptures designed by internationally recognized artists. Organizers, including New Jersey non-profit ARTS 14C and New York's Studio in a School, have placed the modular 72-inch, 350-pound structures across parks, transit hubs, and fan zones throughout New Jersey and New York.
The arrival coincides with local tournament festivities as the first World Cup watch party kicked off Thursday at The Yard. City Market is also organizing a free large-screen watch party for Liberty Square Park for the France-Senegal match on June 16.
New Brunswick's Department of Human and Community Services, under director Keith Jones, will host the Hub City Fan Celebration at Boyd Park on July 2 to mark the historic tournament, which includes eight matches at MetLife Stadium.
