Orange County, CA - U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) issued the following statement in response to Islamaphobic online threats targeting the Islamic Society of Orange County:
"The violent, Islamophobic targeting of the Islamic Society of Orange County is a cowardly act of domestic terrorism, and it will be met with the full, crushing weight of our community's resolve. ISOC is not just a building; it is a fortress of service and faith, and an attack on them is a direct declaration of war against the values of Orange County.
"I have stood with the ISOC community in peace, and I will stand with them in this fight. Let me be crystal clear to the bigots responsible: Hate does not have a seat at our table, and it will not find a sanctuary in our streets. It is an absolute outrage that any American should be forced to look over their shoulder because of their faith. These attacks are a pathetic assault on our collective identity, and we will not be intimidated by those who hide behind masks of prejudice.
"I am demanding immediate accountability. I am working with law enforcement to ensure these perpetrators are hunted down, exposed, and prosecuted to the absolute maximum limit of the law. We are done with 'tolerance' for bigotry. We will dismantle this hatred, we will protect our neighbors, and we will humiliate anyone who thinks they can use violence to divide us."
