Ellis welcomed the Executive MBA Class of 2028 to campus for their first immersion experience held on Aug. 6-8. Immersion Week is an orientation experience designed to introduce students to the school, campus resources, and the faculty and staff who will support them throughout the program.

The Executive MBA (EMBA) program is an accelerated degree path designed for working professionals who are interested in expanding their organizational management skills with the goal of pursuing leadership roles. Students come from a wide range of industries and backgrounds providing a diverse learning environment. This year 25 students were admitted to the 2028 cohort.

During the week, students received a campus tour, a welcome from EMBA faculty Lead Shawn Berman, and lunch with Dean Alina Chircu. Additionally, the cohort began their first courses in the program beginning with MGMT 704 Economics for Managers and MGMT 707 Executive Leadership.

The 2028 cohort also had the opportunity to hear from Ellis alumni, Shane Evangelist and Clint Malin. Drawing on their experiences leading California-based organizations, Evangelist and Malin shared insights on leadership, career growth, and the lessons that have shaped their professional success at the first industry and alumni speaker event of the semester.

Evangelist is the CEO of NEOGOV and graduated from UNM with his BBA in 1997. Malin is co-president and co-CEO of LTC Properties Inc. and graduated with his BBA in 1995. The event was moderated by Stephanie Telles, Albuquerque city councilor and Ellis alumnus.
