Tajani at the Ambrosetti Forum: interview with Maria Bartiromo (Fox News)

As part of his participation in the Ambrosetti Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, gave an interview to journalist Maria Bartiromo of Fox News Channel. Several international political issues were discussed, with a particular focus on the conflict in Ukraine, the crisis in the Middle East, and the dynamics of transatlantic relations.

The Minister reaffirmed Italy's commitment to stand by Ukraine in supporting its resistance against Russian aggression. Minister Tajani said: "Italy is ready to support Ukraine financially, militarily, and politically. The stability of Ukraine and support for President Zelensky are essential to ensuring security and peace in Europe."

During the interview, the topic of transatlantic relations was also discussed. "Pitting America against Europe and Europe against America is a huge mistake. We are two sides of the same coin. If we want to protect our citizens, we need to work together," Tajani said, stressing that cooperation between the two continents is crucial to addressing global challenges, particularly those posed by players such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

With specific reference to the crisis in the Middle East, the Minister reaffirmed Italy's position, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages. He said: "We want a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and Hamas to leave Gaza. Our idea is to build a Palestinian State for the future."

The Minister finally stressed the importance of Italy's growing commitment to strengthening international trade, in particular by protecting the quality of Italian products and promoting a common industrial policy in Europe. He concluded: "It is important to have a common industrial policy. Companies are fundamental to growth, not only for entrepreneurs but also for citizens. Without companies, it is impossible to grow. We need to work together to develop agreements that support our companies. Italy is ready to do so."
