Lexington, KY - Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) has opened a new Lifestyle Medicine clinic in Lexington, Kentucky, staffed by two providers who will focus on helping patients change the daily habits that shape their overall health. The clinic offers a patient centered evidence-based approach designed to prevent, manage and in some cases, reverse chronic conditions.
"Bringing this clinic to Lexington gives more Kentuckians a new way to take charge of their health," said Nika Larian, Vice President of Wellness. "We want patients to leave with practical tools, real education, and a team behind them as they make changes that last. This clinic is an example of our commitment to improving the health and well-being of people."
Conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity are often tied to everyday choices. Care is organized around six pillars which include food, movement, sleep, stress management, and relationships.
At the first appointment, patients sit down one-on-one with a provider to talk through their health history, goals and typical day. From there, this team builds a personalized plan designed to fit the patient's real life. The clinic accepts insurance, and referrals are welcome but not required.
"Good health is about more than treating illness. It's about building a life where you feel strong, capable and more connected," said Dr. Sarah Schuetz, one of the lifestyle medicine providers. "We want to help patients where they are, celebrate their wins, and adjust the plan as life changes. We want to help patients develop habits around the six pillars that keep disease in check and lead to lasting wellness."
"Most people don't need a complete life overhaul. They need a starting point and someone in their corner to support change," said Dr. Katherine Dotson, lifestyle medicine provider. "Over time, these small steps add up to big improvements in how people feel and function."
Lifestyle medicine is meant to work with a patient's current care team, not replace it. Providers coordinate with primary care and specialty providers so patients receive well-rounded support.
Patients interested in Lifestyle Medicine can visit the website (https://www.arh.org/lifestyle-medicine ) or call 859.226.2500 to schedule an appointment. Whether working to prevent chronic disease or managing an existing condition, ARH's Lifestyle Medicine team is ready to help.

About Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH)
Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) traces its roots back to 1955, when the United Mine Workers of America opened the Miners Memorial Hospital system - a network of 10 hospitals dedicated to providing care throughout the coalfields of eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia. Seventy years later, ARH has grown into a 14-hospital not-for-profit health system that serves more than 500,000 residents of central Appalachia each year. ARH hospitals in Barbourville, Harlan, Hazard, Hyden, Martin, McDowell, Middlesboro, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, West Liberty, Whitesburg, and South Williamson in Kentucky, and Beckley and Hinton in West Virginia, ensure that residents, tucked away in even the most remote areas, can access the highest quality of care without traveling hours from home. ARH's hospitals, clinics, multi-specialty physician practices, home health agencies, home medical equipment stores, retail pharmacies, and medical spas boast more than 6,700 employees with a network of more than 1,300 providers, making it the single largest employer in southeastern Kentucky and the third-largest private employer in southern West Virginia.
