Rep. Victor Anderson Appointed to House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting

ATLANTA - State Representative Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia), chairman of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting.

"I am honored to be appointed to the Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting and engage in these important conversations," said Chairman Anderson. "Local governments play a vital role in the daily lives of Georgians, and it is important that we ensure taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly, transparently and fairly. I am grateful to be appointed by Speaker Burns, and I look forward to having a seat at the table as we work to identify thoughtful, fiscally responsible solutions that strengthen accountability and support communities across our state, while serving the best interests of hardworking taxpayers."

The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding, and Budgeting will evaluate Georgia's local funding mechanisms to strengthen transparency, ensure fairness for hardworking taxpayers and increase fiscal accountability for local governments.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Chas Cannon (R-Moultrie), Mitchell Scoggins (R-Cartersville), Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville), Robert Flournoy (D-Hampton), Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville), Mike Cheokas (R-Americus), Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire), Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) and Yasmin Neal (D-Jonesboro).

Representative Victor Anderson represents the citizens of District 10, which includes Rabun County, as well as most of Habersham County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Industry and Labor, Intragovernmental Coordination and Public Safety and Homeland Security committees, as well as the Special Committee on Resource Management.
