GCSU earns No. 7 seed in Peach Belt Tournament

AUGUSTA, Ga. | The Peach Belt Conference has released the bracket for the 2026 women's basketball tournament championship, which begins with the quarterfinals March 4.

Georgia College & State University (12-16 overall, 8-12 PBC) enters the tournament on a four-game winning streak to tie for sixth place and earned the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 seed University of South Carolina-Beaufort (19-10, 15-5) Wednesday (March 4) at 5:30 p.m. at The Cove in Bluffton, South Carolina.

The Sand Sharks won both meetings against the Bobcats this season. USCB won 65-63 in Milledgeville Dec. 17, and then won 70-61 in Bluffton Feb. 4.

The other three quarterfinal contests Wednesday (March 4) will have top seed Columbus State University (24-3, 18-2) hosting No. 8 seed Lander University (9-18, 7-13) in Columbus, Georgia, while No. 4 seed Augusta University (18-9, 13-7) facing No. 5 Middle Georgia State University (17-10, 10-10) in Augusta, Georgia and No. 3 University of North Georgia (18-12, 13-7) entertaining No. 6 Clayton State University (11-16, 8-12) in Dahlonega, Georgia.

The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals Saturday (March 7) that will be hosted by the highest remaining seeded team. The finals are set for Sunday (March 8) with the winner earning the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II tournament.

Children ages five and under and students with a valid ID from a PBC school are admitted free.

All games of the PBC Tournament will be available via pay-per-view at https://pbcsportsnetwork.com/peachbelt/. The cost of the pay-per-view is $10 per game, $18 to watch the semifinals and championship game, or a tournament pass can be purchased for $25.
