IDOT Announces Ramp Closure for Interstate 80/Middle Road Interchange
March 10, 2026 - The Iowa Department of Transportation is announcing a ramp closure for the Interstate 80/Middle Road Interchange Project. According to its website, the eastbound I-80 on-ramp at Middle Road will close on Monday, March 16, 2026 (weather permitting) so work can begin on a new eastbound I-80 on-ramp. The new ramp is expected to open mid-to-late April 2026 (weather permitting).
During the ramp closure, follow the marked detour route by taking the westbound I-80 on-ramp and heading towards Des Moines. When you arrive at the I-80/U.S. 61 interchange, you will exit I-80 and go onto southbound U.S. 61, then take the entrance loop to get right back onto I-80 heading eastbound.
