WASHINGTON, D.C. (Apr. 8, 2026) - Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) sent a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer urging him to publicly reaffirm former Attorney General Pam Bondi's legal obligation to appear for her deposition scheduled for April 14, 2026.
Bondi was subpoenaed by the Oversight Committee after the Committee passed Rep. Mace's motion to subpoena her on March 4th on a bipartisan basis. The subpoena requires Pam Bondi to appear for a sworn deposition regarding the Department of Justice's handling of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his associates and compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA), a law signed by President Trump requiring the release of Epstein-related files to the public.
Serious questions still remain about the DOJ's non-compliance with the EFTA and its handling of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his associates during Bondi's tenure as Attorney General. Bondi's removal as Attorney General doesn't erase her obligation to testify. If anything, it makes her sworn testimony even more critical. Congress's oversight doesn't stop when an official leaves office.
Survivors are still waiting for justice, and the American people are still waiting for answers.
"Leaving office doesn't mean you get to dodge accountability," said Congresswoman Mace."Pam Bondi was subpoenaed by name, not by title, and because the DOJ stonewalled Congress and refused to follow the law, she needs to appear before the Oversight Committee and answer for it. She promised she would comply. April 14 is her chance to prove it. Chairman Comer must make one thing clear: show up or face contempt."
"Rep. Mace and I moved to subpoena Bondi which had bipartisan support on the committee. Even though she was fired, she needs to show up and answer for why the remaining files haven't been released and why there haven't been new prosecutions. She should be able to speak even more freely now. The survivors and the public need answers," said Rep. Khanna.
Last month, Bondi appeared before the Committee for a briefing, during which Chairman Comer reiterated his commitment to pursuing her sworn testimony and warned of contempt proceedings if she failed to comply. Bondi acknowledged her obligation to follow the law.
Reps. Mace and Khanna are asking Chairman Comer to publicly reaffirm Bondi must appear on April 14 as ordered or face appropriate enforcement action.
