Woman Found Guilty In Fatal Stabbing

November 5, 2025, Peoria, IL - Today, a Peoria County jury found Cathy A. Logan, 55, guilty of First-Degree Murder for the stabbing death of 26-year-old Tenazisha Green in August 2023. It took the jury about 90 minutes to find her guilty.

In August 2023, officers responded to the Phillips 66 gas station on Western in Peoria. Upon arrival, they found Green on the ground with two women applying pressure to a single stab wound to her chest. Officers immediately took over life-saving measures, but Green was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

During the three-day trial, a witness testified that she saw the defendant arrive at the gas station, set her purse down, grab a pair of scissors, approach Green, and stab her. The witness and another woman immediately began to render aid to Green while the defendant fled.

The defendant testified that she acted in self-defense, claiming that Green had threatened her and dropped a knife during their confrontation. She stated that she then picked up the knife and stabbed Green.

Surveillance footage presented to the jury contradicted the defendant's story. The video shows both women approaching the station from opposite directions. Green is seen walking away from the defendant. However, the defendant approaches Green and stabs her in the chest. At no point does Green appear to drop a knife, nor does the defendant pick up any dropped item as she claimed. After the stabbing, the defendant walks away, then turns back and grabs the weapon used in the stabbing before fleeing the area. The weapon was never recovered.

Sentencing for the case is set for December 19, 2025.
