Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will make an Official Visit to Tokyo, Japan from 17 to 19 March 2026.
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will make an Official Visit to Tokyo, Japan from 17 to 19 March 2026. The visit takes place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan. It is part of Prime Minister Wong's introductory visits to key partners in the region.
In Tokyo, Prime Minister Wong will meet Prime Minister of Japan Takaichi Sanae. He will attend a Guard of Honour Welcome Ceremony, and be hosted by Prime Minister Takaichi to a working dinner.
Prime Minister Wong will have meetings with other senior Japanese political and business leaders. Prime Minister Wong will also meet overseas Singaporeans based in Japan over a reception in Tokyo.
Prime Minister Wong will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology Dr Tan See Leng, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and for Home Affairs Sim Ann, Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and for Health Rahayu Mahzam, and Minister of State for Defence Desmond Choo.
During Prime Minister Wong's absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will be the Acting Prime Minister from 17 to 19 March 2026.
