American Clean Power Association Names Brett White as Vice President of Markets and Transmission

May 7 2026

Washington, D.C. - May 7, 2026 - The American Clean Power Association (ACP) today announced that Brett White has been named Vice President of Markets and Transmission. In this role, White will lead ACP's efforts on electricity markets, transmission planning, generator interconnection, and broader regulatory initiatives critical to advancing America's clean energy future.

White joined ACP in January 2026 as Deputy General Counsel and brings more than 13 years of experience spanning federal energy regulation, wholesale electricity markets, renewable energy policy, transmission planning, and utility regulation. Prior to joining ACP, White served as Senior Vice President of Regulatory and Government Affairs at Pine Gate Renewables, where he led the company's regulatory and government affairs strategy across a nationwide portfolio of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.

"Brett's deep expertise on electricity markets and transmission policy, combined with his extensive industry and regulatory experience, make him exceptionally well-positioned to lead ACP's work in these critically important areas," said ACP's Chief Policy Officer JC Sandberg. "As the industry navigates unprecedented growth in electricity demand and the urgent need for expanded transmission infrastructure, Brett's leadership will be instrumental in advancing policies that support a reliable, affordable, and modernized grid."

Prior to Pine Gate Renewables, White held regulatory and legal roles at the Edison Electric Institute, Wright & Talisman, P.C., and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), advising utilities, regional transmission organizations, and renewable energy developers on complex market and transmission issues. He is widely recognized for his expertise in FERC policy, wholesale electricity markets, generator interconnection reform, and regional transmission planning. White's work has influenced landmark FERC rulemakings on generator interconnection and long-term transmission planning, and he has been widely quoted by national and industry media outlets, including MSNBC, Politico, E&E News, RTO Insider, and Utility Dive.

"I'm excited to step into this role at such an important time for the energy industry," said White. "Reliable electricity markets and strong transmission infrastructure are critical to meeting growing energy demand and supporting a resilient, affordable grid. I look forward to working with ACP members and stakeholders to advance practical solutions that strengthen America's clean energy future."

White earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Vermont Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Vermont Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from Appalachian State University.
