Leader of Knowsley Council Cllr Graham Morgan took part in a community walkabout in Stockbridge Village following recent incidents of anti-social behaviour which impacted bus services in the area.

Cllr Morgan was joined by fellow Councillors, the MP for Knowsley Anneliese Midgeley, the Council's Crime and Communities team and representatives from Merseyside Police, Merseytravel, the Combined Authority and Arriva.

Arriva recently withdrew the 12 and 13 bus services after 6pm in an area of Stockbridge Village following incidents of anti-social behaviour.

After reports of objects being thrown at buses and abusive behaviour towards drivers the services were withdrawn from the Leach Croft and Waterpark Drive areas.

Thanks to partnership working between Merseyside Police, Merseytravel and Knowsley Council the services were later reinstated in the area.

Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said: "It is totally unacceptable that the actions of a small minority can cause such disruption for residents who rely on those bus services.

"We won't tolerate anti-social behaviour in our borough, particularly when it has such a negative impact on our communities.

"We are working closely with our community safety partners to ensure those responsible for these incidents face the consequences of their actions.

"Merseyside Police is carrying out high-visibility patrols in ASB hotspots where incidents are reported.

"Knowsley has a CCTV network of more than 1,150 cameras, monitored 24/7. The Council Control room has direct access to Merseyside Police's Command and Control Room, which means the police can be immediately notified of any incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour occurring and police patrols can be deployed accordingly.

"We will continue to work closely with partners to ensure these services remain operational for people who rely on them and they can continue to travel safely around our borough and the wider region."
