Richardson's annual Trash Bash event returns April 11 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the parking lot of First United Methodist Church, 503 N. Central Expy. This year, the electronics recycling and document shredding event will not be held on Trash Bash Day. Instead, it will take place on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Heights Church, 201 W. Renner Rd.
Attendees will still be able to properly dispose of cooking oil and cooking grease, pick up a free preparedness bag, donate food and clothing items to the Network of Community Ministries, donate used eyeglasses and pick up a free bag of Texas Pure compost or mulch. Volunteers are also invited to organize and take part in a community cleanup as part of Trash Bash. All trash collection items such as trash bags, gloves and litter tongs are provided by the City. Volunteers can schedule local cleanup events in the days surrounding the Trash Bash. Those interested can e-mail [email protected], call 972-744-4080 or visit www.cor.net/TrashBash to fill out an online form.
