Montgomery Gears Up for Historic HBCU Classic Weekend Featuring the Morehouse–Tuskegee Classic Presented by Walmart

Montgomery, AL - October 1, 2025 - The City of Montgomery is proud to host the Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic presented by Walmart for the first time in the Capital City as part of the highly anticipated HBCU Classic Weekend, running October 2-4, 2025.

This historic matchup-one of the oldest and most storied rivalries in Black college football-will take place at Cramton Bowl on Saturday, October 4, with kickoff at 6:00 PM CDT. The game will be followed by a post-game concert by Kid Capri and a fireworks finale.

HBCU Classic Weekend is more than a game-it's a celebration of HBCU excellence, cultural heritage, and economic vitality. Montgomery is leveraging this event to solidify its status as a premier sports destination and a tourism hub.

Weekend Highlights

• MGM After Dark (Oct 2-4): Montgomery Riverfront, Noon-Midnight
  Ferris wheel, river cruises, food trucks, and live music
• MGM on Tap (Friday, Oct 3): Lower Dexter Avenue, 5:00-11:00 PM
  Biergarten and block party sponsored by Bama Budweiser of Montgomery
• Fan Fest & Battle of the Bands (Saturday, Oct 4): Cramton Bowl, 3:00 PM
  Alabama and Georgia bands go head-to-head in a musical showdown

Transportation, Parking & Street Closures

• Shuttle Service & Parking: The City of Montgomery is providing shuttle services and parking throughout downtown to support event attendees.

  • • Shuttle Service: 2-11 P.M. (Shuttles will continue running through the game and fireworks show.)
    • Parking Hours: 3-11 P.M. for RSA Parking Lots

• Street Closures:
• • Wednesday: Lower Commerce Street closes after evening commute
  • Thursday: Lower Dexter closes after evening commute
  • Friday Night: Soft closure of Madison Street from Jackson Street to Hall Street
  • Saturday:
  • • Hard closures begin at 6:00 AM
    • Dexter closed from Fountain Circle to Perry and Rosa
    • All other streets reopen Saturday night, except Lower Commerce (reopens Sunday morning)
    • ASU Game Traffic
    • • One-way traffic toward ASU on Decatur in the morning; reversed after the 4th quarter.
      • Carter Hill Road will remain one way with several roads blocked from Carter Hill Road to Decatur Street from 2p-10p.

⚠️ Note: Businesses within closure zones will remain open with full pedestrian access. The Montgomery Curb Market will remain open and accessible via Hilliard Street. The City encourages all attendees to support local merchants throughout the weekend.
