HARRISBURG - State Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) announced he has been appointed to serve on the House Children and Youth, Environmental Resources, Human Services, Local Government, and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development committees for the 2025-26 Legislative Session. Flick was sworn into office for another term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Jan. 7.
"I am excited to work on these committees during this new legislative session," said Flick. "The committees each handle complex issues that are dear to my heart, and I look forward to using my knowledge and experience while navigating key legislation. As always, my goal is for my colleagues and I to advocate for common-sense legislation and work in a bipartisan way so Pennsylvanians receive the opportunities they deserve."
The Children and Youth Committee addresses important issues related to adoption, child protection, child day care services, juvenile delinquency, and adolescent health. The committee has played a critical role in updating the state's child protection laws and continues to monitor and refine those laws to ensure children are safe and well-supported.
On the Environmental Resources Committee, Flick will help oversee 45 environmental laws administered by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The committee focuses on legislation concerning clean air, water conservation, waste disposal, recycling and other key environmental issues affecting the Commonwealth.
The Human Services Committee has oversight of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. Flick will work on legislation related to critical issues such as the opioid crisis, mental health services and support for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. The committee also plays a key role in shaping the delivery of human services across Pennsylvania.
As a member of the Local Government Committee, Flick will review bills that amend municipal codes, affecting more than 2,500 local government units in Pennsylvania. This includes legislation on local government operations, real estate assessments and pensions for municipal police officers. The committee works closely with the Local Government Commission to provide research and assistance on issues impacting local governments.
Finally, on the Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development Committee, Flick will focus on initiatives related to tourism promotion, recreational land use, agritourism, amusement parks and more. The committee also addresses issues concerning the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, scenic roadways, snowmobile trails and the state's growing tourism economy.
"I'm eager to collaborate with my colleagues on these committees to create positive change for our communities," Flick added. "By focusing on practical, impactful solutions, we can ensure Pennsylvania remains a great place to live, work and raise a family."
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives will return to session on Monday, Jan. 27, at noon.
