Want to learn how your local government works? Apply for the Aurora Civic Engagement Academy and get a better understanding of local government, connect with city leaders, and make a difference in our community.
This free eight-week program is designed to educate and empower residents, including:
• Building confidence navigating local government
• Connecting directly with decision-makers
• Understanding how policies impact neighborhoods
• Discovering meaningful ways to get involved
• Developing skills to advocate for community priorities
A meet and greet and orientation will take place in the week of Sept. 14, with the academy kickoff the week of Sept. 21. The academy sessions will happen weekly through the week of Nov. 13. Additional details will be posted on the website as they are solidified.
The class is limited to 30 participants who must be residents of Aurora or be employed at a business with a physical presence in Aurora. To learn more and apply, visit AuroraGov.org/CivicAcademy. The application opens Monday, July 20, and closes at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31.
