City Council Moves To Appoint Interim Ward 2 Representative

Application Period Open Now Through 5 P.M. Friday, Sept. 5

The Las Vegas City Council voted to select an interim Ward 2 representative to serve the remainder of former Councilwoman Victoria Seaman's term. Seaman recently resigned to take a position with the federal government.

The city will accept applications for those interested in serving the rest of the Ward 2 term, which runs through either July or December 2026, depending on the outcome of the 2026 primary election. A new Ward 2 representative will be elected in the 2026 elections.

Those interested in serving as an interim City Council member may apply to the city of Las Vegas online now until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2025. The application period is short to meet Nevada open meeting law requirements so that an individual may be appointed by the City Council at the Sept. 17, 2025, City Council meeting.

Requirements to serve in the position include being a resident of Ward 2 and be a qualified elector, meaning they are registered to vote or are eligible to register to vote.
