West Jordan Senior Center Celebrates 35 Years of Community

The Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services West Jordan Senior Center celebrated a special milestone last week: 35 years of serving West Jordan's older adults and the community.

The center marked its emerald anniversary with a festive celebration complete with a yellow brick road, live music, lunch and plenty of memories. West Jordan Mayor Dirk Burton and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Paul Jerome joined seniors and guests in celebrating the occasion.

While the celebration was a look back at 35 years, the story of the Senior Center goes back even further. What began in 1991 in a small house grew as West Jordan's seniors needed - and deserved - a place of their own. Today's center is a testament to how much the community has grown and how much West Jordan values its older residents.

The City of West Jordan is proud to have played a role in making the current facility possible and is grateful for its continued partnership with Salt Lake County. Through the County's investment in Aging & Adult Services, the center offers a wide variety of programs, activities, classes and opportunities for older adults.

Most of all, the Senior Center is more than a building. It is the people who fill it; the staff, volunteers, instructors, advisory committee members and, most importantly, the seniors who walk through its doors each day.

For 35 years, West Jordan's seniors have helped shape the community we know today. The City is proud to celebrate this milestone with them and looks forward to many more years of friendship, partnership and community together.
