Moroccan FM, Ghanaian Counterpart Discuss Bolstering Economic, Investment Cooperation

Tuesday 21 July 2026
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, held talks on Tuesday in Accra with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on the sidelines of his co-chairing of the 2nd session of the Joint Cooperation Committee, during which the two ministers reviewed and expressed their full satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation since the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Ghana in February 2017.

The two ministers also welcomed the growing presence of Moroccan businesses in Ghana in strategic areas such as banking, housing, and infrastructure, and encouraged Ghanaian investments in Morocco, underlining the importance of further strengthening reciprocal investment flows between the two countries, as well as public-private partnerships, particularly in emerging fields such as green energy, logistics, and the digital economy.

Reaffirming their shared determination to further deepen cooperation in priority sectors of mutual interest, the two ministers also expressed their joint ambition to extend this cooperation to other sectors, notably industry, hydrocarbons, mining, energy efficiency, customs cooperation, postal services, and agriculture.

On the commercial front, taking note of the trade potential between the two countries, Bourita and Ablakwa agreed to encourage the organization of economic missions, B2B meetings, professional trade fairs, and exhibitions in order to bolster exchanges and improve the trade balance between the two nations.

To this end, they agreed to facilitate the periodic organization, on a rotating basis, of a private-sector-led "Ghana-Morocco Economic and Investment Forum."
