The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) wrapped up a dynamic and impactful week at the 2025 American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Kidney Week, held in Houston, with an inspiring capstone event on its Galveston Campus on Sunday.

Dr. Jochen Reiser, UTMB President, CEO of the UTMB Health System, and an internationally recognized leader in nephrology research, led the institution's strong presence throughout the conference, underscoring UTMB's role in advancing translational research and clinical innovation in kidney disease.

Throughout the week, UTMB experts and collaborators showcased groundbreaking work in nephrology-from pioneering biomarker discovery to AI-enabled diagnostics and novel therapeutic approaches for chronic kidney disease. These contributions reflect UTMB's broader vision to bridge science and clinical care through what Dr. Reiser calls "Medicine 2.0," where research, technology, and patient outcomes converge.

The week concluded on Sunday with a meeting hosted by Reiser on the UTMB Galveston Campus. The event brought together global leaders in nephrology for a day of thought-provoking discussions on innovation, discovery, and the future of kidney care.

"What an inspiring close to this year's Kidney Week and the ASN conference," Reiser said. "I was honored to host Sunday's Executive Dialogues in Kidney Medicine at the UTMB Galveston Campus, bringing together leaders advancing discovery and innovation in nephrology. Together, we are accelerating the future of kidney medicine-from bench to bedside."

Participants included renowned experts Salim Hayek, Amit Sharma, Josh Tarnoff, Moin Saleem, Srini Srinivas, Farhed Danesh, Nicole Endlich, Alessia Fornoni, Rafael Kramann, Martin Pollak, Laurel Damashek, Laura Barisoni, Astrid Weins, Katalin Szustak, Martin Zeier, Tobias Huber, Sanja Sever, Vineet Gupta, and Shikha Wadhwani, among others-each contributing their unique insights and passion for advancing the field.
