NEW YORK - Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) today announced the launch of Notify NYC's opt-in SMS short codes for summer 2026, enabling New Yorkers and visitors to receive real-time emergency notifications during major events taking place across the city this summer.
"Whether you call our city home or are here for a quick visit, Notify NYC is your starting point for a safe summer," said Mayor Mamdani. "I urge all New Yorkers and visitors to sign up for free emergency alerts by texting SUMMER26 to 692-692 and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same."
"This summer will bring major events with large crowds across our city, which is why NYCEM has been coordinating with our federal, state, and local partners to prepare for any potential disruptions," said NYCEM Commissioner Christina Farrell. "Whether you're watching the World Cup, commuting to work, or simply enjoying a summer day in your neighborhood, we encourage New Yorkers to stay ahead of potential impacts by signing up for Notify NYC and NYC SMS alerts. Receiving timely updates can help you make informed decisions and stay safe throughout the season."
New Yorkers and visitors can text the keyword SUMMER26, SUMMER26ESP or SUMMER26FRE to 692-692 (NYCNYC) to receive alerts and event updates in English, Spanish and French, respectively. Message and data rates may apply.
