November 19, 2024 | From City of New Orleans
The City of New Orleans reminds all landlords of one-to-three unit properties operating in Orleans Parish to apply for the Healthy Homes Certificate of Compliance on Jan. 1, 2025. Certification is a requirement of the Healthy Homes Ordinance.
The Healthy Homes Program aims to ensure that all rental properties meet essential habitability standards in the City of New Orleans to protect tenants.
Jan. 1, 2025 begins the third and final phase of registration. At the close of this registration period, all rental owners are expected to have a Certificate of Compliance in order to operate rental properties in the city. Failure to obtain a certificate is a violation of City code, subject to enforcement. All rentals must be registered. Renewal is required every two years.
Property owners can complete the application process to obtain a Certificate of Compliance online via the OneStopApp.
The Healthy Homes administration will be holding a series of trainings for rental property owners in-person and online, beginning in December. Subscribe here to sign up for updates from the Healthy Homes administration, including notification about these trainings.
For more information, and to access the application, please visit the Healthy Homes Website or contact the Healthy Homes Program by emailing [email protected].
