OLEAN, NY - Each year Olean General Hospital (OGH), a Kaleida Health facility, partners with St. Bonaventure University (SBU) Athletics to raise funds in support of local cancer care services. The annual Pink Game was held during the SBU Women's Basketball game on Saturday, February 7, highlighting SBU's commitment to supporting cancer care close to home.

In addition to the game, several fundraising and donation opportunities were offered to benefit local cancer care services, including a 50/50, raffles, t-shirt and pink ribbon cookie sales. These efforts contributed to a total of $2,400 raised during the event.

"Recently, there have been significant changes and investments in our local cancer care services," said Steve Jackson, president, Olean General Hospital Foundation. "We are upgrading our linear accelerator at the Mildred Milliman Radiation Medicine Center, along with completing interior updates, representing a $4.1 million investment. We wouldn't be able to make investments like this locally without the support of the community and the events like this that help reinforce the importance of keeping care close to home."

Throughout the game, team members from the medical oncology and radiation oncology offices were showcased and thanked for their years of service to the community. Members of the care team were invited to center court during halftime and honored for the work they do to support patients and families.

Kaleida Health Cancer Care, OGH's new partner in oncology services, was also introduced during the game showcasing the wraparound care available to patients through the program.

"We're grateful for the participation from SBU, our other sponsors and the community. Nearly everyone has been impacted by cancer in some way, and seeing students come together to raise funds that directly support local care is extremely touching," added Jackson.
