Newsweek names LLUMC as a Best Physical Rehabilitation Center for sixth consecutive year

Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) has been named to Newsweek's list of America's Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026, ranking No. 3 among rehabilitation centers in California. This marks the sixth consecutive year Newsweek and Statista have recognized LLUMC.

Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus offers a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services for patients recovering from injuries, illnesses, and other complex conditions. Through inpatient and outpatient programs, rehabilitation teams provide patient-centered care that combines advanced therapies, innovative treatments, and research-informed practices to help patients regain function and independence.

"Every day, our rehabilitation teams help patients overcome significant challenges and take meaningful steps toward healing and independence," said Darryl VandenBosch, CPA, senior vice president for LLUMC East Campus and Surgical Hospital. "We are grateful for this recognition because it highlights the extraordinary care our team members provide to the patients and families we have the privilege to serve."

The America's Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026 ranking recognizes leading physical rehabilitation facilities across the United States. The 25 states with the most facilities, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, were ranked individually, while facilities in the remaining states were grouped into four regions: Northeast, Midwest, South, and West.

The ranking is based on four key evaluation pillars:

  • Quality Metrics: Data for inpatient rehabilitation facilities published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Reputation Survey: An online survey of experts with knowledge of physical rehabilitation centers, including physicians, physiotherapists, clinic managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Quality Designations: Accreditation and designation data provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC).
  • Google Reviews: Patient reviews from Google used as a proxy for patient satisfaction.
