On 24 June 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted an event dedicated to the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.

The commemorative and thematic event aimed to draw attention to the importance of expanding women's participation in the diplomatic service, strengthening gender equality, and promoting an inclusive approach in international relations.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Nigina Alizoda, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Katherine Smithton, Ambassador of France to the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Elsa Pignol, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, veterans and staff members of the diplomatic service, as well as students of specialized higher professional educational institutions.

During the meeting, participants emphasized the significant contribution of women to the development of modern diplomacy, their role in strengthening international cooperation, maintaining peace, and advancing sustainable development. It was noted that increasing women's participation in decision-making processes at all levels is an important factor in enhancing the effectiveness and resilience of international institutions.

Special attention was paid to the role of veterans of the diplomatic service in the establishment and development of Tajik diplomacy. Participants highlighted the importance of preserving and passing on professional experience, knowledge, and diplomatic traditions to the younger generation of specialists. The significance of intergenerational continuity was underscored as one of the key factors for further strengthening the national school of diplomacy and training highly qualified personnel for the country's foreign service.

As part of the event, a quiz was held among students, and the winners were awarded diplomas.

The event served as a platform for dialogue among diplomats, veterans of the diplomatic service, and young people, helping to foster students' interest in diplomacy and international relations.
