As the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) posted in early May, the funding for the Digital Access for All Idahoans (DAAI) Plan was cancelled by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). The awards to all states and territories were terminated. With the cancellation of Idaho's $6.3 million State Capacity Award, the ICfL cannot offer grant services funded by the NTIA.
For an opportunity to share what digital access funding means to your organization, join the ICfL's Digital Access for All Idahoans - Listening Session on Wednesday, July 16 from 2 to 3 p.m. MT. The listening session will be held via Zoom and serve as an opportunity to ask questions and talk with staff from organizations working to serve their communities.
Although Idaho lost unprecedented federal funding from the DAAI Plan, the ICfL remains committed to supporting library staff and the communities they serve. If your job involves assisting patrons with tech-related questions - or managing staff who do - please take a moment to fill out the ICfL's Tech Help Survey. Responses will help the ICfL plan future continuing education opportunities.
The ICfL also provides the idahodigitalskills.org site, which is a one-stop shop for digital skills training. Popular features include those for finding local resources and staying safe online. Some of the other available courses include those for: creating a résumé, searching for a job online, and training in various Google and Microsoft applications, including Teams, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook. Training resources are also available in Spanish.
