47th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Drug Matters and Its Related Meetings convenes via videoconference, hosted by Thailand

The 47th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Drug Matters (ASOD) and Its Related Meetings were convened via videoconference on 4-5 August 2026. The Meetings brought together ASOD Leaders from all ASEAN Member States, as well as senior officials responsible for preventing and combatting illicit drugs from ASEAN's Dialogue Partners. The Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Political-Security Community, H.E. Dato' Astanah Abdul Aziz, represented the ASEAN Secretariat at the Meeting.

The Meetings exchanged views on recent developments and emerging illicit drug trends in the region, with a focus on strengthening practical cooperation among ASEAN Member States and between ASEAN and its Dialogue Partners in addressing current threats and evolving challenges.

The 47th ASOD also discussed, among others, the outcomes of the ASOD Working Group Meetings, preparations for the upcoming ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Drug Matters (AMMD) in October and the Final Review of the ASEAN Work Plan on Securing Communities Against Illicit Drugs 2016-2025. The ASEAN Secretariat briefed the Meeting on recent developments in ASEAN.

The series of meetings included ASOD Consultations with Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia and the Plus Three countries.
