SNAP/Food Assistance sign-ups set for Oct. 22

October 20, 2025

SNAP/Food Assistance sign-ups are happening for WWU students on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. in Flag Plaza on South Campus.

DSHS will be on campus with their mobile office to help students through the entire application process. Students can apply, have their SNAP interview and if approved receive their EBT card on site.

We know that food security among our students is a challenge. This quarter we are seeing record numbers of students visiting the WHOLE Pantry in VU 435, at 1,500 visits a week, up from 600 on average visits a week last year. More than 44% of students report food insecurity at WWU. Students may be eligible for SNAP/Food assistance if they currently have work study or work 20 hours a week or 80 hours a month, or if they have dependents. Students must have a WA state id, no campus meal plan and be income eligible. Students who may qualify can come to the event, bring work study documentation, pay stubs, as well as their state ID.

We encourage staff who employ work study students to share this event with your students. This event is hosted by the Basic Needs Hub. Questions: contact Gina Ebbeling, [email protected].
