Charles L. Sawyers, MD, Awarded the Harrington Prize for Innovation in Medicine

Charles L. Sawyers, MD, Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Marie-Josée and Henry R. Kravis Chair in Human Oncology and Pathogenesis (HOPP), has been awarded the 13th annual Harrington Prize for Innovation in Medicine. Dr. Sawyers shares the honor with Arul Chinnaiyan, MD, PhD, Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and S.P. Hicks Endowed Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School.

The prestigious $20,000& award recognizes transformative discoveries that define the molecular drivers of prostate cancer and have pioneered precision therapies that reshaped the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer worldwide.

Roni Shouval Received the Van Bekkum Award

Roni Shouval, MD, Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist, has received the prestigious Van Bekkum Award from the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT)[SJ1] [TC2] . The award was given for his abstract titled "High-throughput Deep Learning-based Framework for Profiling CAR-T Immune Dynamics from Standard Peripheral Blood Smears." Dr. Shouval presented the research at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Madrid, Spain.

Jessica Scott Named Among 23 Top Reviewers for 2025 by 'JACC: CardioOncology'

Jessica Scott, PhD, Director of the Exercise Oncology Program, was named one of the Top Reviewers for 2025 by JACC: CardioOncology The recognition honors exceptional contributions to the journal's peer-review process, acknowledging reviewers who demonstrate scientific rigor, thoughtful critique, and a strong commitment to advancing high-quality cardiovascular and oncology research.

Rebecca Saracino Received the Avery D. Weisman & J. William Worden Award for New Investigators

Rebecca Saracino, PhD, Psychologist, received the Avery D. Weisman & J. William Worden Award for New Investigators from the American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS). The award recognizes early-career investigators who have demonstrated exemplary service to the field and made outstanding research contributions in psychosocial oncology.

Julia Kearney Received the Outstanding Clinical Care Award

Julia Kearney, MD, Clinical Director, Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Program, received the Outstanding Clinical Care Award from the American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS). The award honors clinicians who demonstrate exceptional dedication to improving the psychosocial care of cancer patients and recognizes Dr. Kearney's contributions to clinical practice, patient-centered care, and leadership in psychosocial oncology.

Pablo Sánchez Vela Received the Emerging Generation Award

Pablo Sánchez Vela, MD, Senior Research Scientist in the Ross Levine Lab, received an Emerging Generation Award (E-Gen Awards). These awards recognize post-MD physician-scientists who are deeply engaged in immersive research before their first faculty appointment. Recipients gain access to the Joint Meeting and participate in longitudinal programming over a two-year period designed to support the development of the next generation of physician-scientist leaders.
