Council to host two Public Hearings and recognize popular local eatery May 12

The City Council on Tuesday, May 12 will host two Public Hearings and recognize a local eatery that is making its mark online and throughout the region.

The business portion of the meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

During the first Public Hearing, the Council will consider an update to the Safety Element of the General Plan. The update identifies and addresses various safety issues as required by law such as disaster and emergency preparedness and provides a framework for decision-making and regulatory compliance. The update is organized to be consistent with the other General Plan elements and the City's Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.

In the next Public Hearing, the Council will consider updates as part of a second phase of Objective Design Standards. The first phase was approved in 2023, and the updates include a series of refinements informed by a public workshop and one-on-one meetings as well as ongoing coordination with City staff, stakeholders, developers, and architects.

As part of the City's new Business Spotlight program, a local Instagram-popular eatery will be recognized for developing a fanbase on social media and throughout the area. The Council will also honor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6024 for its vast efforts to support the community.

Council meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
