Statement from Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Chellie Cameron on Governor Shapiro’s Budget Proposal

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia (the Chamber) commends Governor Shapiro for several elements of his 2026-2027 Budget Proposal that advance our region's economic competitiveness, mobility, and growth.

The governor's proposal rightly emphasizes the preservation of Pennsylvania's pathway to a more competitive business tax structure. It includes critical investments in education, workforce development, and transit as well as permitting reforms to accelerate business investment and expansion in our economy. Additionally, the proposal creates programs that will leverage and scale the Commonwealth's research and innovation assets.

As budget hearings move forward and legislative language is developed, we look forward to learning more about the governor's proposals to address energy and housing affordability while working with the Pennsylvania General Assembly to coordinate and develop policies that achieve our shared goals of advancing inclusive growth and creating pathways to upward mobility.
