Panama City, July 15, 2025.- Panama consolidates its commitment to science and public health with the launch of the New Gorgas Campus, a state-of-the-art infrastructure located in the vicinity of the City of Health, in the district of Ancón. The laying of the first stone marks a milestone for this flagship project, which seeks to strengthen the country's response capacity to future health threats.
With an investment of US$70 million from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the project will benefit more than 4.2 million persons by providing modern, well-equipped facilities for scientific investigation, diagnostics, and epidemiological surveillance. Its design meets international standards and reflects the national commitment to innovation and sustainable development in the health sector.
The ceremony was attended by prominent government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, health sector leaders, and representatives of CABEI and civil society. Everyone agreed that this project will be fundamental for national public health and a strategic asset for the entire region.
As an engine of positive transformation, CABEI reaffirms its commitment to Panama's sustainable development, supporting key initiatives that strengthen the health system and improve the quality of life of millions of persons.
