Jones Rejects Bloated Budget

Jul. 14, 2025

HARRISBURG - Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon) today rejected the $50.61 billion budget proposal put forth by House Democrats. Citing reckless spending and a lack of transparency, he issued the following statement.

"Today, the Democrat-controlled House forced a vote on a record-breaking $50.61 billion state budget by amending the bill just hours before scheduling it for consideration by the full House. This expedited timeline did not allow members to understand the changes made by the amendment, and I find this lack of transparency to be very troubling.

"I voted 'no' on this spending bill, which does not come anywhere close to an agreed-upon budget. It would leave us with a shortfall of $4 billion to $5 billion, even with the Democrats' tax hikes included.

"It's time that we get serious about working toward a balanced budget in Pennsylvania by unleashing our energy potential and cutting red tape on regulations that stifle economic growth."
