Congressman Burchett Issues Request to the Navy to Change the Name of the USNS Cesar Chávez
For Immediate Release:
Washington, D.C. (03/19/2026) -- Today, Congressman Burchett sent a letter to the Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, requesting that the name of the USNS Cesar Chavez be changed. This request was made due to the recent news coming out about Chavez's alleged sexual abuse.
"Due to recent revelations that Mr. Chavez sexually abused women and children, I am respectfully requesting that you rename the vessel to someone who better reflects American values."
