On 22-25 September, the Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, will participate in the general debates of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and other high-level events in New York, USA.
Lithuania's head of diplomacy will attend the UN Security Council's open debate on artificial intelligence (AI) and international peace, the UN high-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, the Transatlantic Ministerial Meeting organised by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and an informal meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers.
In New York, the Minister will also attend an event organised by Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to discuss the accountability of the Belarusian regime, meet with representatives of Jewish organisations, members of the Lithuanian community, and participate in an energy security event organized by the think tank Atlantic Council.
Bilateral meetings with high-level representatives and policymakers from various countries are also planned.
During the general debates of the UN General Assembly-now taking place for the 80th time-world leaders will discuss issues related to peace, development, human rights, UN reforms, and other global challenges.
