Rep. Sam Liccardo Announces Major Grant for San Jose’s Asian Americans for Community Involvement

SAN JOSE, CA - Today, Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16) proudly announced Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) will receive a $438,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). AACI, a San Jose-based organization providing primary and behavioral health services to immigrants, will invest the grant funding to train more behavioral health professionals.

"For more than 50 years, AACI has treated our neighbors throughout the South Bay with care and compassion, delivering quality, inclusive care," said Liccardo."This award will help fill crucial gaps in behavioral health providers, and train the next generation of caring professionals."

"We're not just training clinicians; we're shaping the future of mental health care," said Sarita Kohli, President and CEO of AACI."This investment helps us prepare compassionate, culturally competent psychologists who are ready to meet the needs of our most vulnerable community members."

The Department of Health and Human Services awards the Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Programs Grant to top organizations that train behavioral health professionals, including counselors, psychologists, social workers, therapists, and psychiatrists.
