"I'm excited to continue advocating for Alabama's priorities on these committees."
WASHINGTON - Yesterday, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), announced the committees he will serve on in the 119th Congress. He will continue serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry (Ag), Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs (SVAC), and Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP). He also announced he would be joining the Senate Special Committee on Aging (Aging).
Senator Tuberville's remarks can be found below or watched here.
"Republicans have officially regained the majority here in the U.S. Senate and we're hitting the ground running. I'm proud to announce that I kept my committee assignments on Ag, Armed Services, Veterans' Affairs, Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and this Congress, I also secured a fifth committee assignment on the Senate Committee on Aging.
I'm excited to continue advocating for Alabama's priorities on these committees. Now it's time to put our money where our mouth is. For four years, we have been holding the Biden administration accountable for their failures on the border, the economy, and national security. Now is our opportunity to show leadership by delivering tax cuts for the American people and helping President Trump secure our southern border."
TUBERVILLE's COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:
The Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) has jurisdiction over aeronautical and space activities associated with the development of weapons systems or military operations; the Department of Defense including the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Air Force; and military research and development.
The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry (Ag) has jurisdiction over agricultural economics and research; agricultural extension services and experiment stations; agricultural production; and forestry and forest reserves.
The Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee (SVAC) has jurisdiction over the compensation, vocational rehabilitation, education, medical care, civil relief, and civilian readjustment of America's 19 million veterans. Alabama is home to over 400,000 veterans.
The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) has jurisdiction over health, education and training, and labor legislation. The Committee also presides over most agencies and programs within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Administration on Aging, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
The Senate Special Committee on Aging (Aging) serves as a focal point for discussion and debate on matters relating to older Americans. While special committees have no legislative authority, they can study issues, conduct oversight of programs, and advance important causes.
Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs, Aging, and HELP Committees.
