RPNM Chairwoman Slams Keller’s Failures as Governor Sends in National Guard

ALBUQUERQUE, APRIL 8, 2025-Today, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham approved the deployment of 60-70 New Mexico National Guard members to support the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) in combating the city's escalating crime crisis. The decision comes following an urgent request from APD Chief Harold Medina for additional resources to address the crime situation.

The Republican Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Amy Barela gives the following statement:

"Mayor Keller has never taken crime seriously in his city. After two terms, Albuquerque remains the most dangerous city in New Mexico and ranks among the most dangerous in the nation. Due to Keller's mismanagement of the crime-to-law-enforcement ratio, Governor Lujan Grisham has decided to deploy the National Guard in a so-called 'PSA-like model.' Make no mistake, this is an election year and New Mexico's Democrat Governor is giving cover to a Democrat-run city entrenched in crime."
